I got the first three at a church book sale read them compulsively. Picked up the 4th book later on and read those quite a bit as well. Also Star Trek novels. I re-read those quite a bit. Plus Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, and The Three Investigators. Later on it was Harry Turtledove and William Forstchen.

Ah, the memories. I, too, read Trixie Belden/Honey Wheeler, Nancy Drew (not so much), Hardy Boys, Robin Kane, Cherry Ames, etc. I still love to read and I have some old Nancy Drews (from the 50's) that I will give to the nieces. The Cherry Ames books can be purchased from the Vermont Country Store catalog.

I like kids' books when they're reasonably intelligent, and lately I've been reading my way through the "Warriors" cat series by Erin Hunter (who is really three people, but the same three work on every book). So far I believe they're up to 14 or 15 in the series (two complete six-part series and one in the works, all of which follow each other chronologically and have the same characters, along...

I remember when chocolate bars were 5 cents, and the outrage we all felt when they raised the price to 6 cents.   I remember 10 cent comic books, and saving up to buy a new hardcover Trixie Belden book at Woolworths for 89 cents.    I remember my mom trusting me to run down to the grocery store all by myself to buy milk (17 cents a quart) and bread (21 cents a loaf) and hamburger ...

Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 02:54 AM by krispos42 Might have been playing Nintento, watching TV or reading a book. If I was watching TV, it was probably the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Who Watches the Watchers", which was released that week. WTIC channel 61 and WPIX channel 11 carried the new episodes in prime-time. They were independents at the time as well. If I was ...
