Replying to: DCIS Hi, I'm Vivian. I thought I'd add my experience just for comparison and perspective. I was diagnosed with DCIS last July after a surgical biopsy that was 4cm and no clear margins. Also, it was receptor negative, and high grade. The next step was an MRI to determine the extent of the cancer. It turned out to be so extensive (I'm very small breasted), that I could see ...

I would definitely get a second opinion, and start with PT. You will meet all kinds of post-surgical shoulder patients at PT who will tell you not to have the surgery. They are quite incapacitated after the surgery. I had 2 X 10 weeks of PT. The first time wasn't enough so I repeated it after a year. I found that PT can also vary. You need to find the best place for that too. The first place I ...

You people buy pets and then COMPLAIN when you have to spend money on them? That's one of the things a pet consumes is your money! Buying food, taking care of it....you thought these things are free? That's a pretty reasonable price for pet surgery, but still I would take it for a second opinion....maybe they could cast it and be off with it, who knows.

Thank you all for replying. I did speak to my sis today and she is supposed to be meeting with a new pain management team. This makes me feel much better. I have been after her for quite some time to get a second opinion (not that she doesn't have MS but because the treatments they have been giving her don't seem to be helping) or switch doctors, so this is good. She is still in the hospital....

Hello Fools This is an update on my earlier thread. This is what's been happening in the last week. For those who didn't read the earlier saga, to cut a long story short, not very long after our wonderful holiday in Germany the first half of September, October couldn't have been more different. DH had both knees replaced - the first has had its 10-year audit and is absolutely fine, no...

Thank you for the kind words, lovelyevenstar. My post, although 100% accurate, did leave out some very compelling arguments for quitting. In July of 2007,I had to have a golf ball size tumor removed from my right kidney. Because of early discovery,I only lost 10% of my kidney and the 90% that is left still works perfectly.I was very, very lucky because functioning kidneys are the...

Just curious - I am in the process of getting an MRI (did the genetic blood test, blood work and chest xray - and of course the initial biopsy for diagnosis). My big appt with surgeon, oncologist and radiologist is Tues. and I would like a second opinion on the procedure or order of things - surgery/lumpectomy/chemo etc. So, if anyone happens to be in Seattle and can recommend a team, i would...

Rocephin is the first line drug of many traditional infectious disease docs because when the bug was first discovered they did not know its full life cycle, and because it is a spirochete and thus similar to syphilis, they chose a drug with a good track record against that spirochete, even ones that had developed penicillin resistance. They also felt three weeks of IV treatment was all ...

I dislike going to the doctors and fortunately have been healthy enough not to have had to see my doctor much over the last 10 years. Recently (over the last 18 months) I've been to the surgery over 8-10 times (which is an awful lot for me) and I'm wondering whether they're linked at all. It started with pain at the top of one arm (the left) just above and around the elbow which felt like a...

Tomorrow is Kevin's appointment with his oral surgeon. He went to the dentist Friday and they found a possible problem with one tooth and wanted a second opinion as to whether Kevin can wait till after his heart surgery to have it removed or if it has to be before. If the oral surgeon can clear Kevin we can go ahead and schedule his heart surgery. So pixies please that he gets an all go ...
