i have two buildings, about 400 feet apart. right now #1 building has a wrt54g, the other building #2 has a wet54g bridge. all-over wireless coverage in building #1 is great. sometimes building #2 drops the connection. My problem: My house is located in a small "shadow" where there are very limited, to the point of almost being no, cellphone signal coverage. I bought a Yagi antenna to hook up to my inspiron 531 desktop.  The back on the computer has the "ANT" port and there is a little light there.  I bought the appropriate connectors to connect the antenna to that antenna jack on the back and the light never lights up and it does not detect any networks.  I have looked all over the place to try and figure out if it's working or not.  ...

I made this simple Yagi antenna about 20 years ago. At that time I had open space from my balcony and I was able to breath fresh air and receive few VHF and UHF TV channels. Now I am surrounded with high rise buildings, which attenuate TV signals. Thanks to them I went into the satellite hobby. I need a tower antenna around 30 feet tall or higher for a TV antenna and YAGI antenna. I don't know where to even start looking for something like that. Is that something you can get through Radio Shack? I have looked online, but shipping is outrageous, so I would like to find a used one or some place that is not too far to drive to get one. Thanks in advance for any help on this!
