Hey again. Wow...having a comms receiver really IS cool. No more fiddling about with home made regens, which are tuned partially by tuning and partially by hitting the table they are standing on, etc. So...im getting used to this new machine, and i managed to tune into some reasonably clear morse today. Its very bad quality...i tried to tidy it up abit and get rid of alot of the hiss....

Heeeey guys long time no speak. Well...you would be pleased to know i got something vintage radio related again...well...kind of i guess. Today i was near a car boot sale, so i went in and spotted this Trio Jr 500S. It was in very good condition from the outside, and iv allways wanted a comms receiver, so i got it, for £30. I figured, its a little high but who cares. I only ...

hi i have a ts-700g, which is giving a mains hum on transmit. has anybody any solutions for this problem? (i only run it on mains)

Hi All, I am currently doing a spot of research into this receiver, and could do with ay information relating to it, and the uses it had. There is very little info on the web. The radio is manufactured by Detrola, and covers 200 - 400 kc, uses 6 valves, and runs with 24v LT and HT Circuit diagrams, and even some pictures of the set in situ (I do know it was used in the P51 ...

Having just aquired a BCC 30P set comprising: HF transceiver HF amplifier ATU which is powered by 4 X 12v NiCads I am now looking for technical specs, user manuals, service data and any information on where and when such units were in service. Hi I have just found a B40 and I would like to power it up but most of the lettering has rubbed off the face plate so I`m at a loss to now to switch it on. Plus where does the aerial plug into please, any info will be gratefully received Thank you Pete

This was a common modification in the 60s and 70s, when these sets were often converted to general amateur comms receiver use by hard up teenagers. You just need an oscillator running at around the IF frequency, with a control on the front somewhere. I wouldn't recommend doing this today though. There are lots of mutilated PCRs around, and original unmodified examples are sought after and ...
