Monday was Lynne Osman Elkin speaking about Rosalind Franklin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosalind_franklin Tuesday was Keith Devlin speaking about the numbers behind Numb3rs. Turns out that Don Epps and Charlie Epps are based on a real person. One person. A Canadian. I've long wanted that show to get more into the math. This ...

In an interview on CNBC, NY Times columnist Tom Friedman made on interesting observation about the price of oil. He advocates a big increase in US gasoline taxes to lessen demand for foreign oil. Of course, free-market advocates want low gasoline taxes and are happy to see the excess go to the Saudis, Russians, and other oil producers. Much of the $140/barrel price we paid for oil ...

...is almost over. Obama is about to be elected president. House and Senate Republicans are about to rolled back to pre-Gingrich era. While we can all breath easy that wingnuttery has be repudiated, we must always remain vigilante. Given a half chance these big-government, anti-constitution, borrow-and-spend, warmongering jerks will again rise and try to ruin our country. Let us...

As usual, I took my filled-in permanent vote-by-mail ballot to my polling place. They told me about a third of the votes cast today were that kind. If you do it this way, you get the "I voted" sticker. Some local places are offering a free cup of coffee or a cookie if you show up with the sticker! (Wait, wrong board. That's an LBYM tie-in.)
