I couldn't watch it....I hear the words "President Elect Barak Obama" and I flinch. I didn't like McCain either, but warts and all, I knew who he was. Obama, appears to me, way too cocky...too self-assured...too full of himself...too inexperienced. He is way over his head, IMHO and this will be fascinating to watch but I have such a bad feeling! I also will not be watching the "...

http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YmEzNzFjO TVlM2I2ZmF... During the presidential election campaign many were dumbfounded upon hearing for the first time that at least a third of Americans pay no income taxes whatsoever. The Tax Foundation notes that in 2006, 45.6 million filers (33%) paid no income tax whatsoever. Under current law, in 2009 47 million filersrepresenting ...

From today's James Howard Kunstler CFN blog. Classic Kunstler prose. Better start watching those calories. <g> One of the comments from a poster with the handle "ziggy". This isn't our ziggy is it? Mike http://tinyurl.com/6jtaqh The fiasco of medical care is certainly a product of connivance between greedy and heartless insurance companies, profit-driven hospitals, and ...

One of the things I've been doing lately is knitting projects for myself and others - baby gifts, scarves, etc. Recently someone made me aware of "Afghans for Afghans," and their humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan. Their current drive is to collect 300 mittens for children by 11.20, and I just finished my first ever pair of mittens to send them(very fun). A4A is a joint effort with ...

Barney Frank on an auto industry bailout: "There's no downside to trying." http: //www.nytimes.com/aponline/washington/AP-Auto -Bailout.h... I guess wasting taxpayer money and causing innumerable unintended negative consequences aren't downsides.

I already made a post over on the Macro Trends board, but thought that some on this board might also appreciate my third installment of my four part series chronicling the history behind the current credit crisis. All feedback is welcome and encouraged. Franco We left off in the throngs of a raging bull market being driven by a new era of technology companies. With the exception of a ...

Obama Says Government Will Do ' Whatever It Takes' to Revive Economy... "The government will do ``whatever it takes'' to revive the economy," Obama said. __________________________________________ Oh, good. Then lower taxes on productive people, shut down Congress, and have the government GET OUT OF THE WAY. Government isn't the solution to the problem, IT IS the problem. ...

What Does It Mean If the Marxists Are Excited about an Obama Administration? More from our Marxist friend Norman Markowitz, contributing editor of PoliticalAffairs.net (motto: Marxist Thought Online): Obama certainly has a mandate, and it is a mandate for change. Obamas slogan, Change We Can Believe In, was reminiscent of slogans like the New Deal of Roosevelts 1932 ...

You know she is not the lame brain the media has made her out to be during the last several weeks so that Obama would be elected. She is being interviewed at length by Greta on Fox and she comes across as very thoughtful, intelligent, well-spoken and restrained, but lively. I have fallen back in love with her. Sarah in 2012!!!!

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MDgzMGYyYmNmN 2Y2NDFlMTd... Similarly, no one ever thought of President Calvin Coolidge as an intellectual. Yet Coolidge also read the classics in the White House. He read both Latin and Greek, and read Dante in the original Italian, since he spoke several languages. It was said that the taciturn Coolidge could be silent in five different languages....

Obama insider paints portrait of 'pragmatic' president-elect "I'm not sure people understand how pragmatic he is," Valerie Jarrett, the co-chair of Obama's transition team, told me Sunday. "He's a pragmatist. He really wants to get things done.
He won't just stake out a position" and cling to it. http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2008/11/obama-insid er-p.html Translation: He is ...

The man who predicted the 1987 stock market crash and the fall of the Soviet Union is now forecasting revolution in America, food riots and tax rebellions - all within four years, while cautioning that putting food on the table will be a more pressing concern than buying Christmas gifts by 2012. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46MEqEgdLTg I'm the eternal optimist, but with a stash ...

Firstly, I want to see Obama succeed and truly be "everyone's" President. A Clinton style President with something for everyone, 'triangulation' so to speak. Not that he will make everyone happy, he will be a lefty, but even at that, he can still be everyone's President. Even folks unhappy with the results in general or that do not like the man, will not be all that peeved at the ...

Sen. Mikulski Proposes Car Interest Deduction So the auto industry is in trouble as it has been for about the last decade for a variety of reasons. So what's the solution? Loans of course from the taxpayers, and as always when a politician is seeking ways to subsidize an industry in a way that doesn't look like spending, handouts via the tax code. Daily Tax Report reports that Sen. ...

Today was the day I became and official resident of CO. I got my new DL and plates. Then I treated myself to the Mother Of All Buffets here in town. I pigged, I ate, I gorged, and I pigged some more. After the third plateful my stomach cried "Uncle." Then I rolled myself to the car and drove home. I then treated myself to a midday snooze, complete with visions of hot and sour soup, ...
