I'm not a Keith Olbermann fan, but a friend sent me this and I'm reconsidering. I don't know if this has already been posted here because I can't keep up with the volume of posts here. Excellent, Olbermann. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27650743/ Andrea

Here's something that could change my mind about government run health insurance in the United States. Tell us again how government run health care saves money. Dozens of Sydney [,Australia] brothels are passing off sex acts as therapeutic massages and illegally billing health insurers for the services, a newspaper and an official said Monday. Australia Brothels Billing Insurers for...

Outrage and anguish over the passage of Proposition 8 has spurred massive street protests throughout California, and leaders of the gay and lesbian community believe the backlash could spark an unprecedented nationwide push for gay rights. Today, same-sex marriage supporters have planned simultaneous protests throughout California and in all 50 states, as well as cities in Canada, ...

The Right Wing talking heads seem to have started referring to the wealthy as the "productive class." As though the top 2% do everything and the rest of us are parasites. Is this new, or have I just started hearing it?

Our health care system will be bankrupt as soon as the many, many obese Americans I see around me each day age a bit more. Here's another little tidbit from the NY Times on how serious the problem is now, and how much worse it's going to get real soon: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/18/health/18kidneyd isease.htm... In 2005, more than 485,000 people were living on dialysis or with a...

If Wall Street is so important to our economy, then why did Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson refuse to bailout Lehman Brothers? According to Paulson, "I never once considered that it was appropriate to put taxpayer money on the line" for Lehman. Except he had no problem asking for $700 billion of "taxpayer money" to bailout everybody else. And by the way, we shouldn't use any of that ...

Andrea Mitchell is reporting that Clinton is in for Secretary of State. After the high profile snubbing Clinton got for VP, I would think they would not discuss her name unless they were willing to offer it to her. http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1108/Hillar y_goes_to_... Derek

For those Republicans still in denial - - deny this: http: //www.nytimes.com/2008/11/16/opinion/16rich.h tml?th&... The series continues. The scene: 1987, Buick Headquarters, Buick Motor Division in Flint. Later similar scenes would be in 1992 at AC Rochester in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. I had just transferred (as an EDS employe) from an internal EDS office to an actual GM site, in this case, "Buick Nameplate" as the group was known. This is basically your headquarters for the Buick division itself, ...

A quick question about the election post-mortem. I've seen a number of conservative commentators (and a fair number of non-conservative ones) state that the GOP needs to find a leader. In context, this often seems to contemplate a prominent individual (though not necessarily an office holder) to help bring the GOP out of the wilderness. However, I can't think of any analog to that "...

Palin indicated six days prior to the election that she would be willing to run for Vice President or President if McCain lost the election in 2008. With four more years of "executive experience," she would be ready to become ultimate commander of the universe if God is so weary.
