Since the start of the market turmoil, the coupon equivalent rate on 26 week TBills has gyrated up and down. At the start of the period, on 9/10/08 the rate was ~1.9%. There were distinct minima of ~0.8% on 9/18/08 and 10/10/08 and also the last few weeks. There have also been maxima, ~1.8% on 9/22/08 and ~1.75% on 10/20/08. I wish I could insert a chart! It speaks volumes. I am 'stuck'...

The math doesn't seem to work unless there's something I don't understand about the pricing of TIPS. #29

Hello All, I have a few questions about preferred stocks and I'd appreciate any help that folks could offer. (Or maybe someone could point me to a good websource that answers many of these questions? I've googled some things up, but you never know how factual things are on the internet...) As I understand it, preferred stocks are issued at a par value (commonly $25) and with a set ...

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/10/world/asia/10chi na.html?hp... Big Yen. Question: if Chinese purchases of Treasuries has helped keep down interest rates in US, what happens when they are spending at home, with likely less capital from trade during world recession anyway?
