Will the fresh install be just as normal as doing it from a DVD+R write once disc? Also do you know if it makes much difference if the DVD+RW disc has some scratches on it? I mean the disc won't install if the scratch is too bad, is that right? Many thanks in advance

This past weekend I installed Windows for the first time on my MythTV box since I had the urge to replay Portal from the comfort of the couch using a wireless keyboard and mouse. I've been using it for about a year for watching movies and TV shows, browsing the web, and such. A bit of background: I use the Mythbunbtu distro for this use because it's so easy and slick to set up. By default ...

Essentially, I've 2 hard drives, an older one and a brand new one, both with vista 64 on them. Now, I'm going to be running vista off the new one, and using the old one to install games and such on, because that gives you slightly better performance or something, right? Steam was a piece of cake, since I just installed it into the same folder, updated it, and it detected all the games right ...

Hi got a 3.5 amd 64 processer and 4 g ram was thinking of switching from 32 bit vista to 64 bit and was wondering is it worth it and what would the advantages of the switch be?

Hi all I need some advice. For some strange reason, I checked the my document folder today and noticed that some files and folders are deleted and that most folders are still there, but no files in them. I find this strange as I used get data back and diskinternals uneraser and I managed to retreived about 93% of the stuff gone, and made up the rest from backups, but some picture files have...

I have a ton of duplicate mp3 songs that I need removal. It would be a tedious task to go through every single one. Do you know of a software that scans the whole drive and finds duplicates and deletes them? I am after something for free? Many thanks in advance

Im having problems with Nvidia NV Tune. When I boot up, I get an error message about a problem with loading Baseline.npe. I can only get rid of this by going into task manager and shutting doun the NV tune program. For some reason I can remove it via the add/remove programs in the control panel. Any idea how to sort out this baseline profile?

Okay, so my aversion to Chrome has been well documented in certain threads but when I read about the latest version of Iron [basically chrome without the spyware], I had to try it. I'm quite impressed - fast to startup and fast page loading. It seems to outperform my browser of choice [Opera] on those fronts. And for those lamenting the lack of adblocking in chrome - Iron has it! Check it ...

Right. My mates sister-in-law has a problem where her PC has gone belly up. Long story short, the motherboard has to be replaced. Now, the Operating system is XP Home OEM. Her husband installed it originally but, here is the sticking point, he doesn't have the serial number as he threw the box / packet that the cd was in! He has the original CD. He didn't put the sticker on the case. He ...

Just installed a third sata disk and i assumed it would just be a simple matter for vista to detect and then me to format. It only shows up as unallocated in admin tools etc and I do not ge the option to format. The new disk does not show in computer (vista 64) but the other two do along with my dvd drives. I haven't a clue about this and so any help regarding its recognition and formatting would...

I'm trying desperately to get a downloaded copy of MEP 2009 to work on my PC. All I have is a 3.3gb .exe file which seems to do nothing but send my HDD mental for ages. No setup screen or anything else. I've tried extracting the setup file with winrar, but it's taking ages and ages. The Autocad site is an absolute abomination, and any downloads from there seem to happen sporadically at ...
