I am intending to go onto a pump in the near future but have to decide on which model to choose. I am 75 so am not such a wiz with computers etc. Is there any seniors who can reccomend what would be good. Have imfo on Deltec Cszmo, Paradigm and Animas 2020, my reason for this is I travell a lot and feel this would be better than my present setup. Been diabetic for 20years,live in Melbourne.

I use the 10cc vial of Humalog and according to directions once you start using it (puncture the vial) it's good for only 28 days even if refrigerated. A 10 cc vial lasts me well more than a month and I don't have insurance and hate to waste half a vial every month. How long, if any, is the grace period for Humalog after the vial is punctured? How strict is that 28 day expiration?

I want to know what are the chances that my 2 siblings and I will develop this disorder? Can we prevent it or only delay it? My father is 48 years old and was recently diagnosed. The doctor told him to control his diet and didn't perscribe any medication. 1) Why wouldn't she perscribe medication? 2) What changes does he need to make? 3) If his blood sugar is normal, can he live normally? 4) Does Diabetes vary in terms of serverity? His reading was 7.4 5) Do some people have a worse form of it than others ...

Looking for some support with this weight called Diabetes I get to carry for the rest of my life. Was dxd in 2000 and was a model patient for several years...then...burnt out. I have a horrible time with sweets and actually stopped insulin for about a year off and on so that I could just eat sweets and not gain weight. I don't want to do it anymore. After about a half a pound of M & M's ...

Recently I went to a doctors office for a follow up and blood drawing for other reasons and not diabetes (I am not a diagnosed diabetic). I had not eaten for atleast 4-5 hours before the blood drawing and just 10 min before I had eaten a whole medium apple. When they drew blood they found sugar levels to be 119.. I would not have expected an apple to cause it to be 119. Is this ok or do ...

Hi I have recently started injecting with insulin and I am really struggling with all of it at the moment. I am finding it very overwhelming to say the least. I am overweight but I honestly do not eat like a pig, I actually struggle to eat all the food the dietitian wants me to eat it is just to much! A local health magazine had an article about diabetes where a doctor said that type 2 diabetes...

Last week I met with a diabetes educator. We had a really long talk. She's continuing to stay in touch with me and she's had several discussions with my gp. She says I'm not a type 2 and I've now been reclassified as slow onset type 1 and was put on insulin. I'm still kind of spinning. I've been living as a pre and then a type 2 for a little over a year. I didn't exactly expect this even ...

I have read about the liver causing the spikes, sending glucose into the blood during the night. Is this really true? I also read, eating before sleep eliminates the spikes. Can anyone say this works? Thanks.

I forgot to ask this question. If one goes on insulin (type 2) will they gain weight? My cardiologist was concerned if I did. I weigh 155 and have some ticker problems also. My primary doctor mentioned putting me on it last time. Honestly it scares me to death not because of the needle, but because of gaining weight and fear of dropping to low. This morning I took my bs and it was ...

How long after a meal should a person wait to take a blood glucose measurement? Should I wait one, one and a half, or two hours after I eat to use the glucose meter? Does one have to be consistent, or can the times vary with meals? Are there any guidelines for this? thank you, flowergirl

I don't believe I'm diabetic. I know I'm not the doctor, but I just don't agree. My A1C is 6.7 and they're basing my diagnosis on that, and also on the fact that my morning fasting number is between 130-140. I do believe I have PCOS, but not diabetes. Any opinions?

Back in July I went to the doctor and he said my blood sugar was 110 and a1c was 6.3. I had an infection. I recently went into the hospital and my blood sugars are in the normal levels. I have been checking my glucose levels and in the last couple of months, the most was 120. The other day when the nurse told me my blood was fine, ate an ice cream cone, and after 2 hours it was about 87. ...
