Does anyone know the differences, if any, in ABT vs, VRS in HT receivers. I believe these are specific manufacturers of the sound decoding chips (?), but was wondering if anyone has had experience in one vs. the other in their home theaters. Please advise,,,

A friend who is no longer into audio dropped by last night and gave me a couple of pieces. Luxman TP 114 Tuner/Pre and an F 114 Proc/Amp, no manuals. I've found a few reviews (no specs) on the pre and it looks like a keeper. All I can find is the service manual on the F 114, no specs. The gear is late 80s, early 90s, so the Processor is ProLogic. Judging by the model numbers, I assume the ...

Hey all, Just wondering if anybody here listen to their HT at reference level? I find it really loud but it's the closest I"ve ever come to a good movie theater. I'm going to play around with the X-Curve setting and see if it will make it more tolerable. The THX Cinema processing sounds really good. So far, I find the -10db setting on the volume to be the most comfortable with ...

For all HK 3490 owners please... Say gang, any of you have issues with hooking your turntables up to your HK 3490's? I've got a Stanton STR8-100. Seems to be a digital out. Can't hook it up to my phono analog in, it makes a horrid cracking sound that can't be adjusted by volume. Sounds like a great way to blow your speakers and kill your receiver in one fell swoop. But when I hook it up...

I am buying the new receiver (onkyo 706) because the yamaha v463 with hdmi that I have doesnt decode truehd and dtsmaster. I know the ps3 does it onboard. Will i see a difference when I let the receiver decode it or will it be about the same? Thanks for the input.

I was originally just going to PM this website to DarqueKnight since he's been helping me with Power Conditioning and Regenerating questions, but then I'd thought the rest of the forum might benefit as well. . . . http://www.audiophileaps.com/ The company is called Audiophile Aps. They make a product called Pure Power. Aside from some other products, they make some nice regenerators...

I have been doing a lot of upgrading to my system since I joined the forum. I am upgrading my receiver now. I am trying to decided btw the onkyo 806 and the marantz sr7002. They are similiar but I think the marantz have the edge. I have found great deals on both from authorized dealers. I never hear much about marantz on here but I have always heard they were some of the best. Which one ...

Haven't heard this noise before any idea's greatly appreciated. There is an intermittent noise that sounds like someone dragging a needle on a record player accross a couple of tracks that lasts for about a second and can happen three times in a minute or ten minutes apart coming from one of the speakers my power amp runs. It is the only thing switched on and goes to the other speaker...

Need some help from the electronics experts. Right now my entire living room is on a 20 amp circuit. I have not had any trouble running what you see in my signature plus a cable box and Samsung 52 inch LCD. Would adding a 250 wpc 2-channel amplifier require more than the 20 amp circuit can give?

Has anyone ever purchased anything through "6th Ave. Electronics" or "Electronics Expo"? While these online retailers are not the most established or known, compared to a say Crutchfield, they are listed as authorized dealers on Yamaha's website. Still, I like to do as much research as possible. Any info. you all may have is appreciated... Right after I post this I am also going to check...

The M1.5t is an older unit, so it may be time for recapping & a general bench going-over. Also, it is a tube transfer modification unit, so you may not like the sound. I find them to be muddy in the bass (tube mod). they are a helluva powerhouse, however.
